AMS QQA 200/3 2024 is a high strength with 3.8 to 4.9% copper supplied in extruded bar and profile form. The alloy is solution heat-treated and controlled stretched to achieve the T3511 condition and is produced to the American Standard.
This material is a high strength aluminium alloy used in aerospace and high technology applications. With good machinability, the alloy is excellent when using resistance, spot or beam welding techniques though other methods are not recommended. The corrosion resistance to atmospheric attack is poor.
