BS S124 is a martensitic type 416 stainless steel containing 12% chromium.
The alloy offers excellent free machining properties due to the addition of sulphur. However, this comes at the cost of reduced corrosion resistance, formability & weldability.
BS S124 aerospace stainless steel bar is a free matching alloy which is suitable for automatic lathes. The alloy can be heat treated, and the increased levels of sulphur content result in the materials enhanced machinability. The product is based on 416 stainless steel. We offer billeting services at our bulk warehouse in Biggleswade and across our UK network of 14 service centres.
