Stocking an extensive range of aluminium products for the Aerospace Sector

Smiths Metal Centres Ltd fully supports the global aerospace sector with a broad range of high quality products which are available for immediate supply, ex-stock.

Combination of Services

One of our key assets is in the sheer volume, shapes and sizes of aluminium alloys available, all with unique barcoding for the best possible traceability. By holding such a diverse range of stock and by combining this with our dedicated processing services, we are able to efficiently supply material which is closer to the finished size and shape you require. In many cases this obviates the need for you to machine the material down.

Aluminium alloys are supplied with widely varied combinations of mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and other valuable properties to cover a host of different applications. Many 'T' temper conditions are readily available. Forms include rod, bar, tube, wire, shapes, sheet and plate. Bars may be drawn, rolled or cold finished and also extruded, according to specification.

Aerospace aluminium alloys are defined within the British Standard Aerospace series using a designation system within which all grades begin with the letter ‘L'. Various other designation systems and standards exist. For example, we supply a number of American Aerospace grades which are released to AMS/AMS QQ-A specifications. A very high strength 7000 series alloy - 7068 released to AMS 4331 - is available for selection and is widely specified for high performance motorsport use.
