CONTAL®

Aluminium Tooling Plate

CONTAL® Aluminium Tooling Plate

CONTAL® is a high strength alloy plate product which has very high zinc, magnesium and copper content. Based on the 7xxx series alloys, Contal has a higher yield and ultimate strength than commercial aluminium alloys. The material benefits from good machinability. Corrosion resistance is moderate in inland atmospheres and critical in marine atmospheres. The alloy is supplied in the T651 temper.

7xxx Series Aluminium

CONTAL® has a higher yield and ultimate strength than general commercial aluminium alloys. The material benefits from good machinability. Corrosion resistance is moderate in inland atmosphere and critical in marine atmosphere. The alloy is supplied in the T651 temper.

Details

CONTAL® is stronger than standard aluminium alloys. Available in the T651 temper condition, the alloy has excellent strength and fatigue properties with good machinability. Up to 80% in machining time can be saved when compared with steel plate.

Typical Applications

Commercial applications for this engineering material include:

  • Highly stressed components
  • Machine construction
  • A potential replacement for low to medium strength steels
  • Punching tools
  • Stamping tools

We stock CONTAL® in plate and sheet.
