6-2-4-2 Titanium Alloy (TI-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-Si) is a weldable, near-alpha titanium alloy offering excellent mechanical strength, stability and creep resistance to temperatures as high as 550°C. Density is 4.54 g/cc³.
The alloy is used in the aerospace sector in the manufacture of airframes and jet engine compressors. With fair weldability, the alloy offers good corrosion resistance. 6242 is also broadly used in motorsport applications.
