Carbon-Manganese Steel Sheet

BS S514 / BS S515 is a carbon-manganese steel available in sheet and strip.

Both grades chemically identical, BS S514 supplied heat treated to produce tensile strength (Rm) 770-1000 N/mm². BS S515 supplied soft annealed to give tensile strength (Rm) 460-600 N/mm² before final heat treatment.

Key Features:

BS S514 / BS S515 aerospace sheet is chemically identical. Where the alloys differ is in the way they are treated - BS S514 is supplied in the heat treated condition, whilst BS S515 is supplied in the soft annealed condition. The alloys are used when extra strength is required when compared with mild steel.
