| We sell engineering raw materials.
By "engineering raw materials" we mean metals,
plastics and various other materials that are in a form ready to
be made into something. So, in our warehouses you'll find, say,
round brass bars ready to be cut up and machined into valves, or
aluminium plate ready to be cut down to form an injection mould tool.
That's just two materials and two applications, there are literally
thousands of others products and customer applications, making the possibilities
for what people can make from the materials we supply virtually
limitless.
We don't, however, manufacture the
materials we sell, that's done by our suppliers who are located all
around the world. The manufacturing process for most of the materials we
sell requires major industrial plant and processes and, as a result,
these raw materials are only produced very large bulk quantities on long
lead times. Most users of engineering raw materials don't want to buy
these products in such large quantities or wait such long lead times,
that's were we come in. We buy materials in bulk and then supply these
materials from stock to our customers in whatever quantity and delivery
time suits them best.
We add value to the supply chain in other ways too. We
can supply materials in the same lengths and sizes as we buy them from
our suppliers or we can process them further by cutting them down into
lengths and sizes more convenient for a customer's intended use. Because
we supply a wide range of materials we can also offer advice on
alternative materials and/or alternative shapes and sizes that may be
better suited to a customers intended use.
